While examining additional ways to enhance the customer experience within their maintenance and repair department, St. Louis Motorcar saw an opportunity to bring a higher level of organization and efficiency to their parts storage room. Through Wildeck's partnership with Industrial Shelving Systems, Inc., the company was able to achieve its organizational goals.

The Challenge

Welded stairs attached to a mezzanine.St. Louis Motorcar, located in St. Louis, Missouri, is a privately owned, factory authorized motorcar dealership for Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Lotus, Lamborghini and Bugatti automobiles. Given the luxurious and exotic nature of their merchandise, St. Louis Motorcar takes a white-glove approach to their customer experience. One area of the company where this philosophy is especially evident is the maintenance and repair department. While waiting for work to be completed on their cars, guests are invited to relax in the company’s lounge area (furnished with TVs, Wi-Fi and an espresso bar).

In examining additional ways to enhance the customer experience within the maintenance and repair department, St. Louis Motorcar saw an opportunity to bring a higher level of organization and efficiency to their parts storage room. Greater levels of organization behind-the-scenes would allow the company’s technicians to work more efficiently, resulting in decreased wait times and higher levels of customer satisfaction.

Our Solution

Storage racks used to store tires. In looking for ways to achieve their goal, St. Louis Motorcar sought the help of a trusted Wildeck dealer specializing in material handling and storage equipment solutions (Industrial Shelving Systems, Inc.). Through their partnership, St. Louis Motorcar learned about Wildeck’s highly versatile industrial mezzanines (also known as steel work platforms). Wildeck’s mezzanines are the ideal solution for any company looking for a minimally disruptive way to achieve additional square footage for their storage, working or manufacturing needs.

The installation of a Wildeck mezzanine in the parts storage room allowed St. Louis Motorcar to maximize the potential of their building’s existing overhead space. By going up, the company was able to achieve a highly organized space that would help technicians quickly locate needed supplies. While the area on top of the mezzanine would serve as a dedicated storage area for the company’s larger and more easily damaged merchandise (i.e. tires, autobody parts, etc.), the area beneath the mezzanine would house the department’s more frequently used parts and supplies. In addition to doubling the storage capacity of the parts room, the Wildeck mezzanine helped St. Louis Motorcar create a more efficient inventory management system that supported their customer experience goals.

In assessing the best way to move large items to and from the mezzanine deck, St. Louis Motorcar decided to integrate a Wildeck Swing Gate with their steel work platform. The Swing Gate would allow forklifts to transfer palletized materials to the upper level while keeping the company in compliance with applicable codes and safety standards.

“Working with Wildeck to resolve our square footage needs was a first-in-class experience,” said Andrew Wilson, Service and Parts Director at St. Louis Motorcar. “Their total solution approach allowed us to create a highly organized storage room that ultimately enhanced our customers’ experience.”
