FoodState

FoodState

Overview

FoodState, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pharmavite, develops and manufactures supplements under its MegaFood® brand. Headquartered in New Hampshire, the company is recognized for its unwavering focus on safety and quality. In 2024, FoodState moved into a new facility to increase capacity and elevate production standards. This required extensive interior renovation prior to moving forward. Partnering with Bode Equipment Company, Wildeck engineered and installed three custom mezzanines and a Vertical Reciprocating Conveyor (VRC) designed to improve material flow, maximize available space, and support FoodState’s high standards for quality.

The Challenge

Food and supplement handling facilities face stricter requirements than typical warehouse environments. Two of the three mezzanines must be designed to resist corrosion and minimize contamination risks. At the same time, FoodState needed to expand usable space and improve workflow between multiple levels of its facility, without interrupting production.

Our Solution

Wildeck delivered a tailored solution to meet FoodState’s specific needs. The project included three custom mezzanines, each designed for the unique requirements of its installation area. Two mezzanines featured painted steel and galvanized finishes to withstand more stringent environmental conditions, while the third—constructed entirely of painted steel—was installed in an area with less strict sanitary requirements. Every structure was engineered for long-term durability and reliability to support FoodState’s operations.

To complement these structures, Wildeck installed a custom Vertical Reciprocating Conveyor with a 3,000-pound capacity and a carriage measuring 72 x 72 x 84 inches. The lift now moves materials 138 inches vertically at the push of a button, reducing manual handling and improving workplace safety. The VRC was also equipped with Wildeck’s AutoSenz® technology, which continuously monitors carriage movement. This feature enhances safety by detecting obstructions and preventing damage to products, equipment, or personnel. Adding another layer of uniqueness, the VRC was outfitted with 6' x 8' Hörmann SC1400 SEL doors for carriage access. Including these doors enabled Wildeck to deliver a solution that was both functional with minimal footprint required.

“We went with Wildeck because they are the one vendor who sells mezzanines AND also produces material lifts and VRCs. We needed both of these products at the facility, so we went with Wildeck to consolidate freight charges, shorten shipment lead times, and ensure all finishes matched. If we used a VRC from another vendor and a Wildeck mezzanine, the colors would never match.” — BODE Equipment Company

The Results

With the project completed on schedule, FoodState was able to begin using its expanded facilities without interruption. The new mezzanines increased usable space without compromising food safety or quality standards, while the custom VRC eliminated bottlenecks and streamlined operations from floor to floor. Together, these solutions strengthened FoodState’s ability to maintain its high standards for quality and compliance while working hard to meet growing demand.
