Drafting/Detailing Manager
Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Mezzanine Engineering, the Drafting/Detailing Manager coordinates creation of approval and installation level drawings and detailed fabrication drawings of parts for structures from receipt of order through shop submittal.

Job Duties/Responsibilities (The “What”):
- Plan, assign, direct and review work of Drafter/Detailers
- Coordinate schedule with Director of Manufacturing and Director of Engineering
- Complete drafting/detailing of orders for approval process or fabrication when workload dictates
- Complete employee performance appraisals
- Coordinate/Perform training of employees
- Develop goals and determine production standards for drafting/detailing department.
- Update detailing and product standards regularly based on internal and external requirements
- Perform back check of all drawings before final release to customer for approval or release for detailing for fabrication
- Perform periodic back checks of detailed orders for accuracy prior to release to fabrication
- Coordinate and lead Continuous Improvement projects and directives
- Work closely with fabrication shop staff to assure all drawing/file/NC file errors and omissions are resolved and documented on a priority basis
- Anticipates and troubleshoots areas of concern; resolves engineering and data file issues prior to fabrication
- Pro-actively identify issues and constraints within the process and work to resolve or minimize impact on the Company/Department

Requirements:
- Minimum of an Associate degree in Engineering, Architecture, or similar with 10 years drafting/detailing experience.
- Minimum of 2 years management/supervisory experience of 5 or more direct reports, which has included (but was not limited to): coaching, training, interviewing, and on/off boarding recommendations.
- Working knowledge of drafting/detailing principals.
- 5 years experience in detailing in AutoCAD, version 2012 or later, is required.
- 5 years experience using Advance Steel 3D, Tekla, SDS/2 or equivalent 3D steel modeling software is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience with providing information for steel fabrication or manufacturing equipment utilizing CAD/CAM capabilities.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with Engineering,
- Sales/Marketing and Fabrication personnel.
Requirements:
- Minimum of an Associate degree in Engineering, Architecture, or similar with 10 years drafting/detailing experience.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% or more of the time.
- Open cube office work environment. Noise level — moderate.
- Ability to fluently communicate verbally and in writing in English.
