Sustaining American Manufacturing

As a manufacturer, and a company that serves the needs of manufacturers and distributors, we at Wildeck are always anxious for next quarter’s financial reports and forecasts on the manufacturing sector. We rely on these numbers to gauge where we stand in the industry, and to help us plan for the future.

Over the last year, for the first time in decades, Americans who hadn’t previously paid attention read about these reports with (almost) the same level of focus as we do. In an Editorial Comment in December 2009, IMPO Magazine Editor Anna Wells commented,

“Manufacturing’s place in America is not a given. After watching water fill the lungs of GM and Chrysler this past year, I’d say this is evident. Still, these conditions, by default, developed something of an awareness campaign for the plight of manufacturers. Suddenly America as a whole was taking an interest in the success of the industry…and it’s about time.”

Unfortunately, the reason for this interest is the historic decline we’re all too familiar with. The stories of plant shutdowns and rising unemployment rates during this time were a vivid and lasting example of the importance of American manufacturing. Those who gave no thought to construction and fabrication in the past have seen just how much we depend on them. As the economy begins to recover, we are poised to take advantage of consumers’ newfound respect for our industry. People realize that buying American-made products has a real and positive impact on their neighbors and the country as a whole.

As more mainstream attention and education continue to benefit the American manufacturing industry, Wildeck is committed to being a part of its renewed success.

Going for the Gold

I’m not a big fan of figure skating. I just don’t get how you can be on the ice without a puck. I guess I’m just brainwashed by hockey. (I do like the sequined costumes though – very shiny!)

The other night at the Olympics was all about figure skating pairs. The time and commitment that these couples put into their performances is amazing. It actually looks like two people skating as one. The unison skating is unbelievable. Of course, the most incredible part is that they make it all look effortless.

Did you know that Wildeck is the only mezzanine manufacturer that also manufactures Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors? Talk about working in unison. When we receive an order for both a mezzanine and a VRC; our structural, electrical, and mechanical engineers work together to give our customer a headache free project. We dedicate our time and experience to making your material handling equipment work together flawlessly.

When working with an authorized Wildeck dealer and the best team of employees in the material handling industry, you will always get gold medal quality and service.

American Idol® Group Nightamerican idol
American Idol is now onto the Hollywood phase of the competition, and group night is one of the best showcases of talent, diva drama, and survival of the fittest. To get past Hollywood week, the contestants have to prepare and perform together as a group. This phase of the competition is packed with drama, tears, and a long night for the contestants. Group night on American Idol presents a new set of challenges to get to the next round. How well do they cooperate with other contestants? Some groups suffer complete meltdowns that result in miserable performances, while others pull together for the benefit of each individual as well as the group.

This is the next opportunity for the contestants. They have already survived auditions, gotten their golden ticket to Hollywood, and survived their solo performance at the Kodak Theatre. The group event is where they can either make or break advancement in the competition.

Contestants’ Typical Reactions:
- For some, this is the toughest night because they are used to working solo.
- For others, they shine in a group setting.
- Working together is not everyone’s forte. Group drama can be intense.

Translate American Idol Hollywood Group Night into material handling. Wildeck works well in either a solo or group setting. Our products shine on their own, and also work great when combined with other products and professionals in the industry. We easily incorporate our product to work around existing conveyor, rack, and shelving. We also work well integrating our mezzanines, VRCs (freight lifts), and safety guard rail with other manufacturers and equipment.
Wildeck is able to present the best case scenario for our customers every time, because our products and our people are dedicated to perform our best for you at every performance.
